MapleChat runs on the streamer's own computer. There is no MapleChat account and no MapleChat server, so the people who make MapleChat don't receive or hold any of the information below.
If you sign in with Google (streamers)
A streamer can sign in with a YouTube channel so the chat bot can post in their live chat. MapleChat then:
- reads the signed-in channel's ID and name, to show which account is connected and to recognise the bot's own messages;
- looks up the live chat of the stream being watched;
- posts the bot's messages in that live chat.
Google's sign-in only offers full access to manage a YouTube account for this kind of app. MapleChat uses it only for the three things above. It doesn't change videos, channel settings or anything else, and it doesn't read your email, contacts or other Google data.
The sign-in details, and the Client ID and secret of the streamer's own Google project, are saved in files in the data folder on the streamer's computer, and are sent only to Google. So is a count of how many of YouTube's daily messages have been used, which isn't sent anywhere. None of this is shared with anyone else, sold or used for advertising.
If you chat on a stream that uses MapleChat (viewers)
MapleChat reads the stream's public chat. On the streamer's computer it saves chatters' Twitch logins or YouTube channel IDs, their YouTube names while the YouTube bot is on, message counts and levels, and the outfits they pick and crate items they win, so that their characters come back next time. Everything except the counts and winnings is what chat itself shows or what you chose.
The bot's outfit link has your Twitch login or YouTube channel ID, level, class, how much you've chatted, where you rank and your outfit in it. It's posted in the chat. That part of the link stays in your browser and isn't sent to the outfit website.
The outfit website is hosted by each streamer, and its web host may keep the usual visit logs.
Removing your information
- Streamers: click Disconnect in MapleChat's settings. This removes the sign-in from the computer and cancels it with Google (if Google can be reached at that moment). The Client ID and secret stay, so they needn't be entered again. You can also cancel the sign-in at any time at Google's permissions page. Deleting the
datafolder removes everything else, including the Client ID and secret. - Viewers: ask the streamer. They hold this information, on their own computer, and can remove it.
YouTube and Google
MapleChat uses YouTube API Services. By using the YouTube bot you agree to the YouTube Terms of Service. Google's handling of your information is covered by the Google Privacy Policy.
